During our 12 day road trip from Toronto to Vancouver, Ian and I did a guided hike up to the Walcott Quarry site of the Burgess Shale on Mount Field.
It was a gruelling 10-hour hike, that covered a distance of 21km and 760 meters of elevation gain. Conditions changes in the blink of an eye in the Rockies and even though we hiked on September 7th, we hit every type of weather.
Looking for fossils in 6cm of snow fall can be a bit tricky, but so many factors made it a totally unforgettable and massively worthwhile experience.
